I like it when kids make up words - when they bust out something new that allows them convey their ideas more precisely than they otherwise could with the linguistic odds and ends that life has given them so far.
So when Matt claimed that he was feeling memorous at the end of his kindergarten year, I marveled at this little dude making meaning for himself in the world and tucked the term away for future use.
And man oh man, has it got some utility. It's August, and today was our last vacation day together. The school year starts tomorrow for me and next week for him, so I'm reflecting on the goodness that Summer 2017 brought us, from that last day of kindergarten right up to today. Hanging on to these moments and feeling memorous, for sure.
